CSA Software

Posted by Desmond Smith • Jul 11, 2011

Some time ago, I had the opportunity to develop custom web software for a Community-Supported Agriculture network based in Gastonia, NC. Home Harvest is a CSA that supports many local farmers. As a proponent of eating produce and meat grown using sustainable means, I was excited to take on this project - supporting the CSA movement is something that I certainly take pride it.

The software itself is pretty straight-forward. Admins can create the various seasons (typically 10-weeks in this case), set membership prices, select which produce is available on a week to week basis, and view/edit/process orders. Customers on the other hand can log in and pay for their memberships and allot the "points" that they have been assigned for a given week.

Developing software that supports local CSA organizations is something that I would love to do more of. Already, we've got a good base that allows the functionality above as well as allows the sale of one-time products (like gift certificates or gift baskets).

Perhaps you're involved in CSA and would like to have more information about our software. Please let us know - we'd love to work with you to find a perfect solution.

No Farms. No Food.
